Now as much as i love volkswagen, and i love the Jetta... im growing unsure with its new designs ----> http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/volkswagen_news/article_1149.shtml

I was wonder what some other people were thinking about it

ass end looks too much like the corolla imo.

side view is a little weird. and the front is iffy, ive been wondering if i like it on the golf for a while now.

oh i remembered i was reading autoweek and they described the styling as 'less european and more japanese' i agree with this one, esp with the corolla-esque rear end.

you would have to be stupid to think this has any corolla DNA... (corolla = rounded back, curved lines, round tails) (this = square back, edgy lines, rounded tails a lot like on the lupo and other european VWs) I sat in one in Detroit and loved it.. It's a great natural progression of the old car.

I don't know what car you're looking at, but that back end looks pretty rounded to me. Then again, saying it looks like a Corolla is someones personal opinion on something thats subjective as hell (styling), so its stupid to tell people they're wrong.

look again... you will see strong horizontal lines both across the back and down the sides (very much a german thing). corollas, camrys, avalons all still use the taurus derived shape of taking surfaces and bubbling them out so that the lines of the car are rounder and smoother - more "friendly" If anything VW stole from the new honda civic which stole from BMW so it's german no matter how you look at it :)
it's not really intepretive... a square is a square like a circle is a circle...

the first time i saw it, i thought the ass looked just like a malibu

the article on it says its bigger, stronger and faster. i like that aspect. Its just really hard to explain my feelings on the new body. I guess i agree that its still german. But it didnt pop out at me like the old body styles.

I dunno, i know they dont look like clones of each other, but they bear a strong relation from the rear view. probably mainly due to the way the taillights are shaped/cut into the trunk. and the way the trunks look abit like each other.

Boo to VW for using similar awful rear lenses, like nissan did with the altima (or was it the maxima?)

Both. :( (Though they're gone on the 04+ Max)

I'm not a fan of the new Jetta or Golf/GTI at all look-wise. Give me an A1/A2 Jetta Coupe again please.
